Isla Lang Fisher (pronounced Eye-Lah), was born on February 3, 1976, and is an Australian actress and author. Fisher was born in Muscat, Oman to Scottish Presbyterian parents, and now resides in Los Angeles with her fiancé, English comedian Sacha Baron Cohen. (One of the most immediately striking features about their relationship is the difference in height; as Cohen is 1.91m (6ft. 3.2in.), Fisher at only 1.60m (5ft. 2.5in.) barely reaches his shoulder, even in high heels.) She converted to Judaism in advance of her marriage to Cohen, who is Jewish. Fisher grew up in Perth, Western Australia and earned her acting credentials as the character of Shannon on the popular TV soap opera Home and Away.
In 2002, she had a part in Scooby-Doo as Mary-Jane, Shaggy's love interest. A larger role in Wedding Crashers in 2005 won her the Breakthrough Performance Award at the MTV Movie Awards. In 2006 Fisher starred as Becca, a Manhattan party host in the offbeat relationship drama London alongside Jessica Biel, Chris Evans and Jason Statham.
While promoting the film Wedding Crashers (co-starring Owen Wilson), she was officially crowned the 1000th guest on Australian talk show Rove Live on August 2, 2005. She entered the set ahead of Wilson, thereby winning the title by a mere 6 feet.
